Gridlocked Norfolk! Commuters' outrage over wall-to-wall roadworks

While the A47 roadworks connected to the Thickthorn upgrade scheme have been the centre of their anger, there are other sections across the city which has also impacted their journeys.

It means they are either forced to sit in queues that make their journey three times longer or find alternative routes through neighbouring suburbs to try to minimise their travel times.

Mother Lucie Oakes, who lives in Easton, says "no matter what time of day you're travelling, you're getting stuck for ages".

She said: "My daughter has to get the bus from Easton to the city for school, which ends up being stuck on the A47 going towards Cringleford.

"It's putting me off going out anywhere. They need to think of the damaging effects it’s causing everyone trying to get to places like work and schools.

"All other back roads and routes are busy because everyone then tries to bypass the main traffic."

Rob Davies, who lives near Ipswich Road, said: "I had a meeting at the research park.

"I left my house at 8.25am and traffic was already........
