Joyce and Geoffrey Smith, who live in Marlingford, got married in 1956 after Mrs Smith first spotted her now-husband at a football game when he played for Barnham Broom.

When asked what first attracted her to him, Mrs Smith, 87, said: "He had a streak of fair hair and he was good at football.

"Of course everyone said that it would never last because we were so young.
