Councillors and guests gathered in the Assembly Room at the Town Hall for the Freedom of the Borough event - the highest honour the council can give, dating back to when Great Yarmouth received its first Charter in 1208.

At a meeting on November 6, the honour was unanimously awarded to Cecil Page, Hugh Sturzaker, Jayne Biggs, and the Great Yarmouth Samaritans.

Cecil Page, 87, was praised for his lifetime of dedication to the Kingfisher ABC boxing club, which he’s been part of since it began in 1964.

Known as a mentor and community volunteer, he has inspired generations of young boxers and supported countless local causes.
