Coastal campaigners urge people to attend meeting amid plans to remove sea defences
The Hemsby Stakeholder Group will host the meeting for homeowners and businesses and other locals chaired by Great Yarmouth Borough Council, at Hemsby Village Hall, Waters Lane, from 6pm to 7.30pm on Monday, November 24.
The meeting follows an independent report which concluded that the sea defences at Hemsby Gap must be removed because they pose a health and safety risk.
Plans for new sea defences have also been ruled out, with the estimated £20 million cost of installing a rock berm nearly a mile long deemed unaffordable.

Simon Measures, chairman of the campaigning charity Save Hemsby Coastline, said he hopes the council will listen to residents rather than “informing people of their predetermined actions”.
