Bid to build over 500 houses sparks fears of 'swamping' Norfolk coastal communities
Norfolk County Council - through its company Repton Property Developments - together with partner Lovell Homes has submitted major plans for land south of Links Road in Gorleston.
A hybrid planning application lodged with Great Yarmouth Borough Council is seeking full permission for 442 houses and outline approval for a further 70 homes as part of an extra care facility.
The plans also include a building intended for either shops or community use.
The same location previously saw plans to build 240 houses and a Lidl supermarket - but they were withdrawn in July last year following concerns about a proposed toucan roundabout.
