Charles George Townshend, the 8th Marquess of Townshend, passed away on November 20 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, in King's Lynn.

Educated at Eton and Cirencester Agricultural College, he oversaw the restoration of the family seat at Raynham Hall, near Fakenham, which was built in the 1600s.

Lord Townshend, who inherited the house following the death of his father the 7th Marquess Townshend in 2010, rose to the challenge of raising funds for the work by diversifying its 5,000-acre estate with events, concerts, glamping, guided tours........
