Anglian Water said September was the first month since January to have above average rainfall.

Ten out of the last 12 have seen lower than average levels, leaving reservoirs, rivers and groundwater lower than normal for this time of the year, with "much more rainfall" needed to replenish them.

As well as the second-driest summer since the drought of 1976, 2025 also saw the warmest summer on record, with a mean temperature of 16.1C between June 1 and August 31, which is 1.51C above........
