Charlotte Giddings of Brownie and the Bean: My advice for starting a business
· Tell us about yourself
I’m Charlotte Giddings, co-founder of Brownie and the Bean, a multi-award-winning, family-run bakery on the Norfolk-Suffolk border at Redgrave.
I’m originally from London and started out in the media industry. Owning a bakery was definitely not on my bingo card.
I spend my days sampling delicious brownie flavours with my husband Luke (chief baker) and raising our two young children together. It’s been an unpredictable and wonderful journey, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Brownie and the Bean brownies (Image: Brownie and the Bean) · What makes your small business unique?
What makes Brownie and the Bean unique is our creative approach to flavours. My husband Luke, our Creative Director, is passionate about reinventing nostalgic favourites in a way that’s truly special.
Instead of simply placing a Twix on top of a brownie and calling it a "Twix Brownie," he meticulously recreates all the layers.
We also switch up our flavours every month to reflect the seasons, keeping things fresh and exciting. We’re committed to using high-quality, locally sourced ingredients.
Our flour comes from Norfolk-grown wheat, our sugar from Bury St Edmunds and our eggs from a nearby farm. Every brownie is made with love........
