Writer to capture stories from Norwich Market ahead of 900-year anniversary
John Osborne will take on the role of writer-in-residence for Norwich Market ahead of a programme marking 900 years of trading on the site.
The project comes from the National Centre for Writing and Norwich theatre group The Common Lot.
It forms part of On the Huh! 900 Years of Norwich Market, which will include six free outdoor performances from July 21–26, 2026.

John will work with traders and shoppers to create short pieces of writing drawn from daily life on the market. The work will appear on text boards across the site.
