The Southwold Sausage Walk, traditionally held each October, will host its first-ever summer celebration at Old Hall in Southwold on Saturday, July 4.

The festival promises a fun-filled day for dogs and their humans alike, featuring a variety of stalls selling treats and doggy goodies, a fully stocked bar, live music, an on-site café, a scenic estuary walk and free parking.

A spokesman for Southwold Sausage Walk said: "With beach access off the menu during the summer months, we’re heading to a brand-new venue for our first-ever summer festival, this July.

"We’re delighted we can now also have events during the summer.

"A fantastic day out for the whole family, celebrating all things sausage."

This event is ticket-only, with tickets going on sale in early spring 2026, and any further information is set to be released soon.

The event has grown in popularity since its launch in 2017 and has become one of the biggest gatherings of a single dog breed in the world, with 2,238 Dachshunds descending on the coastal town.

As well as a place for owners to share their love for the breed, the event also raises money and awareness for Intervertebral Disc Disease, which is common among sausage dogs.

IVDD affects the spinal discs in dogs, which leads to pain and mobility issues.

In October 2025, Laura Baggott, who organises the Southwold Sausage Walk, said thousands and thousands of people turned up to the walk as 1,500 dogs, mostly Dachshunds, but also other breeds, walked from Southwold harbour to the town's pier.

She said in the eight years she had been organising the walk, she had never seen so many people, describing how Southwold became "Sausage Town" for the day.
