Council battling one of UK's biggest solar farms in chaos after mass resignations

Five councillors, including the chairwoman, have quit Great Moulton Parish Council, while its clerk has also stepped down.

The authority now has just two councillors remaining, meaning it no longer has enough members to legally conduct business as it must have at least three councillors present at meetings.

Carol Bailey, who had been in charge of the parish council since 2023, said she was unable to go into detail about why she stood down due to an ongoing investigation.

Councillors Keith Bailey, Gary Crawley, Jane Crawley and Geoff Timms have also stood down.

Mrs Bailey said: “It is now for South Norfolk Council to issue a section 91 notice and appoint two district councillors to run the parish council along with a locum clerk until such time as there can be elections, co-options or appointments to the council to allow it to become quorate again.”
