White Cottage is believed to date back some 400 years and is described by selling agent Sowerbys as “the sort of home one discovers only in stories”.

It comprises an original thatched cottage with a “remarkable” cob and strawbale extension, made by specialist builders.

Sowerbys said: “A celebrated example of sustainable architecture, the home has featured in many a television show and written publications.”

The cottage is filled with character features including lime-plastered walls, stained glass details, cob walls and exposed beams.

On the ground floor, the entrance porch opens into a larger internal hall, which is open plan to the sitting room. Set within the newer extension, this room features a wood burning stove, bespoke window and French doors framing panoramic views across Filby........
