Energy Innovation finalists named at Clean & Green Awards
Here we take a closer look at the organisations that have been recognised for their innovative approach to sustainability.
British Sugar supplies more than 50% of the UK’s sugar demand and supports 7,000 jobs in sites across East Anglia.
It has invested more than £140 million into carbon and energy reduction projects, and has reduced its scope one and two emissions by 21% since 2017/18.
Investing in innovative tech and adopting a circular economy approach means that British Sugar now produces virtually zero waste.
The judges said British Sugar’s “commitment to zero waste is evident” and that it has “already demonstrated a substantial impact”. They also praised its collaboration with other groups and its participation in the UK Emissions Trading Scheme.
