Construction begins on battery storage project near Norwich

Ørsted, a renewable energy company, broke ground on the project with a golden shovel ceremony in Swardeston on Tuesday, March 4.

The BESS will have a capacity of 600 MWh (and a 300 MW power rating), equivalent to the daily power consumption of 80,000 UK homes.

Upon completion, it will be one of the largest systems of its kind in Europe.

The system is located alongside the onshore substation for Ørsted’s Hornsea 3 Offshore Wind Farm, which is being built approximately........
