Colorifix has been based at Norwich Research Park for the last seven years but announced on Friday that it is moving its main operations and laboratories to its subsidiary manufacturing site in northern Portugal.

The biotech company uses DNA to create sustainable dye for the fashion and textiles industries, pioneering the world's first entirely biological process for textile dyeing, without the use of petrochemicals.

Colorifix was visited by Prince William and Hollywood actress Cate Blanchett at its Norwich lab in June.

The company was shortlisted as a finalist for the Earthshot Prize in 2023, which was launched by Prince William in 2020 to celebrate firms finding solutions to environmental issues. Blanchett is an Earthshot Prize council member.
