MSPs must properly consider prostitution bill and have an open mind
Prostitution is often glibly described as the world’s oldest profession.
The debate on whether the industry should be ignored, fully legalised or aggressively policed is similarly ancient.
Attitudes towards sex work have evolved massively in the internet age.
But the industry across the UK is still associated with organised criminals who force women, many of them poor and from overseas, into a job they don’t want and can’t escape.
Many other women are driven to this work through extreme poverty.
