John Swinney knife crime response to Kayden Moy death is welcome but more needs done
John Swinney’s response to the tragic death of Kayden Moy from knife crime and the rising tide of youth violence was to be welcomed.
He said “one incident is one incident too many” and warned young people not to carry blades. We are also pleased he addressed the concerns of campaigner Vicky Donald head on.
But other parts of the FM’s response to MSP anger at teenage knife crime deaths were poor.
When parents and young people are anxious about violence, they do not want a raft of statistics on why crime is falling.
They will also be concerned that the FM restated his government’s current approach to tackling youth crime rather than outlining fresh ideas.
