With a little more than a month to go before the midterms, Donald Trump is in full campaign mode — crisscrossing the country in the hopes of boosting federal and state candidates up and down the ballot. For the past few weeks (and, in some cases, months), Democratic candidates have dominated a wide range of polls, prompting frenzied investments from conservatives donors and PACs and predictions that the House of Representatives and maybe even the Senate could soon be in Democratic control. From Senate races in Texas and Michigan to a consistent overall advantage on the congressional ballot, here’s a look at some notable recent polls showing the Democratic surge.

No candidate better defines the Democratic Party’s surprising position in this year’s midterms than Texas state representative James Talarico, whose Senate campaign has revived hopes long feared dead that a Democrat could once again be elected statewide. Unlike Senate candidates before him, Talarico has been paired with a uniquely controversial and scandal-scarred opponent in Texas attorney general Ken Paxton, the Republican nominee who primaried and defeated longstanding incumbent John Cornyn.
