Possible GOP Governor Pick Won’t Say How Many People He’s Killed

Tuesday’s Democratic primaries in Colorado ended with several notable results for the left. Democratic socialist Melat Kiros defeated veteran representative Diana DeGette, while moderate senator Michael Bennet fell in his bid for governor to left-leaning state attorney general Phil Weiser, and Senator John Hickenlooper fended off a formidable far-left challenger.

But there was drama on the other side of the equation, too. The Republican nomination for governor is still too close to call, and one of the two candidates who might win, Victor Marx, is just a bit unorthodox. As of Friday morning, state senator Barbara Kirkmeyer holds a slim lead over Marx, receiving 39.94 percent of the vote to Marx’s 39.65 percent with 88 percent reporting, per the New York Times. It’s currently a difference of less than 2,000 votes. Prior to her time in the state legislature, Kirkmeyer served as Weld County commissioner and unsuccessfully ran for Congress in 2022.

On his campaign website, Marx describes experiencing a childhood of adversity, including abuse, before settling on the right path through his faith and his decision to join the Marine Corps. He’s referred to himself as a “high risk humanitarian,” founding All Things Possible Ministries, a nonprofit that describes its mission thusly: “We exist to set captives free — physically, emotionally, and spiritually.” In another place on ATP Ministries’s official........
