After trade negotiations between the United States and Canada collapsed last week, the Trump administration slapped new 50 percent tariffs on $20 billion worth of Canadian goods. Among the items impacted are many stereotypically Canadian products that make for good headlines, like hockey sticks, goose down jackets, and Crown Royal whisky.

But apparently President Trump wanted a sillier way to illustrate that his beef with our northern neighbors is back on. Tuesday morning on Truth Social, he announced that the U.S. is “giving serious consideration” to renaming Lake Ontario to “Lake America”:
