Are the Trump boys actually business geniuses?

The short answer is no, absolutely not. The long answer is still no, but Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump do look a little less dumb today than they have for the past nine months.

Back in June 2025, Don Jr. and Eric held a press conference at Trump Tower to announce that they were launching Trump Mobile, a wireless service, and the “T1,” a Trump-branded gold phone. They claimed the phone would be made in America and would release in just a few months.

People started placing preorders for the $499 device, even as experts pointed out that what the Trumps promised was “impossible.” The specs on the Trump Mobile website didn’t make sense and supposed images of the device featured drawn-on buttons. Plus, manufacturing such a product in the United States, especially on such a short timeline, was unimaginable.

But this week, Brian Cheung of NBC News received an actual T1 phone:
