New city centre bus gate 'strangling an already dying city centre' despite promise

Coventry Live readers have been engaging in a lively debate over a council pledge regarding a new bus gate, with many questioning access, signage and the impact on the city centre.

Coventry City Council has assured motorists that they will not be fined for the first month after a new city centre bus gate became operational. Situated on Greyfriars Road, the bus gate is part of plans which also include a pop-up cycle lane.

The council hopes this initiative will demonstrate that "Coventry Very Light Rail is a fantastic new transport option," whilst optimising the use of the Ring Road and reducing traffic in residential areas.
