From a football perspective, there is so much to be thankful for as we head into Mobil Thanksgiving Weekend.

I could go on about scoring, close games or the crazy number of 1,000-yard receivers across Canada. But if you would allow me for a moment to be self-serving (not the first or last time), I would like to point to my bi-weekly quarterback rankings.

As I wrote in my last column, Vernon Adams Jr. is currently in seventh place. Calgary’s starter leads the league in passing touchdowns and has a better quarterback ranking than Nathan Rourke. This is how strong the quarterback position is right now, where a dummy like me can find six passers better than Vernon. It speaks to the depth and talent at that oh-so-important position.

Moving on to the upcoming Thanksgiving slate of games, I have six players I want to focus on.

Why six instead of the more traditional five? It’s Thanksgiving, so who doesn’t go for extras?

Edmonton and Hamilton's game this weekend is a rematch of that wild 37-35 Elks victory over the Tiger-Cats.
