As a lifelong fan of mid-twentieth century pulp novel, film noir and science fiction heroes, I'm always keen on new characters carrying on this tradition. It's in this vein that I anxiously greeted future-cult classic, 'The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the Eighth Dimension', a genre-defying movie released in 1984.
