A10 Waterbeach roadworks divide opinion as cycling bridge causes weekend closures

Cambridgeshire Live readers have been sharing their thoughts on the new cycle and pedestrian bridge near Waterbeach and the A10 closure s. The reactions are mixed, with some applauding the safer routes, while others criticise it as a waste of money and unnecessary disruption.

A section of the A10 is scheduled to be closed for three weekends throughout September. This closure is to facilitate the installation of a new bridge along the road. The purpose of this new bridge is to link the new town to the recently upgraded Mere Way.

This will provide a direct and predominantly off-road route to Cambridge for pedestrians and cyclists. At present, a portion of the A10, from the Cambridge Research Roundabout to the junction of Denny End Road in Waterbeach, is closed this weekend and will remain so for the next two weekends.

The construction works are set to take place from 8pm on Friday nights until 4am on the following Mondays. Traffic on the A10 will be rerouted via Newmarket on the A14, in an effort to minimise disruption to surrounding villages.
