Locals plead 'leave the fields alone' as council will not fight solar farm appeal
Residents say they have lost trust in the council following confirmation that it will not contest an appeal against a major solar farm development it rejected last year. CambridgeshireLive readers are not in favour of the project and are disappointed in the council.
North Northamptonshire Council's (NNC) planning committee rejected the plans in October 2024, with concerns over the visual disruption to the landscape and the effect on wildlife within the protected Upper Nene Valley. The development is expected to deliver up to 49.9 megawatts of power for 50 years.
NNC has submitted a statement of case to the planning appeal, revealing that the council has "reflected" on the grounds it previously presented for refusing the solar project. While maintaining its "legitimate concerns", NNC said that the reasons were not enough to uphold a refusal of planning approval.
