Summer is the season for local carnivals, village days, fetes and festivals, says Sarah Green, the Liberal Democrat MP for Chesham and Amersham.

These events are usually organised by hardworking volunteers months in advance, giving their time across the year to make sure that when the day finally arrives, there are plenty of stalls, snacks, games and shows for visitors to enjoy.

As an MP, I probably attend a few more of these events than the average local resident. Perhaps it’s because I get to visit so many that I have noticed........
