Should Harris Run for President Again? These Women Say No

Former Vice President Kamala Harris is said to be mulling another run for the White House, a race that would be her third attempt to become the nation’s first female president. She recently rebooted part of her social media presence with a rebranded account that will serve as “an online organizing project for next generation campaigning.” In April she heads to Columbia, South Carolina, for the second leg of her book tour, part of a larger swing through predominantly Black cities. And she has met with top Democrats about how to help her party in the midterms.

All of this comes as Harris leads her potential rivals in some hypothetical and very early 2028 polls, a sign that she retains goodwill among voters, particularly Black voters. Any successful run for the Democratic nomination would rest on strength among Black voters, particularly women. In 2024, nine out of 10 Black women voted for Harris, according to post-election analysis by progressive think-tank Catalist.
