Musk blasts Zelensky for rejecting peace talks with Russia
Tech billionaire Elon Musk has once again taken a firm stance on the Ukraine conflict, openly criticizing Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky for refusing to negotiate with Russia. In a series of posts on his social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Musk accused the Ukrainian leader of prolonging the war at the cost of his own people, letting “men die in trenches” instead of seeking a diplomatic resolution.
Musk’s remarks come in the wake of a tense and ultimately fruitless meeting at the White House on February 28, where Zelensky met with former US President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance. The discussions, which reportedly included negotiations over mineral agreements and continued military aid, ended abruptly without any major agreements being reached.
During the meeting, Trump, who has long expressed skepticism over America’s extensive support for Ukraine, pressed Zelensky to enter direct negotiations with Moscow. However, the Ukrainian leader firmly resisted, leading Trump to accuse him of recklessly escalating the war and “gambling with World War III.” The former US president also reportedly expressed frustration at Zelensky’s constant appeals for more financial and military assistance while showing little willingness to consider peace talks.
Following the breakdown of talks in Washington, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer called for an emergency summit in London on March 2 to discuss Western military and economic support for Ukraine.
