Caisse investing $75 million in alternative credit strategy, selling stake in infrastructure trust

The Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec is allocating $75 million to an alternative credit strategy managed by Quebec-based investment management firm AlphaFixe Capital.

“By collaborating with local managers, we enhance our sources of expertise and further diversify our portfolios, complementing the work of our teams,” said Vincent Delisle, executive vice-president and head of liquid markets at the Caisse, in a press release.

The Caisse is also welcoming Macquarie Asset Management as a partner in Maple Infrastructure Trust, an infrastructure investment trust that owns and operates toll roads across India.

Macquarie Asia-Pacific Infrastructure Fund 4 is committing US$450 million, from which $150 million is earmarked for future acquisitions by Maple. The Caisse is also putting up an extra $150 million for future growth.

“Our partnership with Macquarie Asset Management is a strong vote of confidence in what we’ve built and the growth opportunities ahead,” said Emmanuel Jaclot, executive vice-president and head of infrastructure and sustainability, at the Caisse.
