Raouf Halaby's recent letter to the editor attributes civilian deaths in Gaza to Jewish financial control of U.S. politicians. Wow. This antisemitic trope that Jews secretly control governments through money has a long and well-documented history as one of the oldest accusations leveled against Jews.

Halaby's key passage states: "Just because Palestinians don't have the money to buy American politicians (think AIPAC and all its hybrids), that doesn't mean that Palestinians have to be 'thrown out the window' of a pathetic world."

Note Halaby's phrasing that pushes his accusation beyond any particular lobbying group toward a broader collection of unnamed actors linked by a common characteristic. Hmm, I wonder who they could be.

The letter leaves no doubt. Halaby writes: "And these are the people who keep reminding us that evil should never (Never Again) rear up its ugly face."

Recall that I've previously written on this very page: "The phrase 'Never Again' grew into the rallying cry of post-Holocaust Jewry. At its core, this maxim describes the imperative that Jews will not repeat the naive belief that Hitler wouldn't carry out what he had openly declared . . .

"Rabbi Meir Kahane, the founder of the Jewish Defense League in 1968, popularized the saying in America, using it as the title of his 1972 book, 'Never Again!........
