In Noguchi’s unrealised playgrounds, art and life are inseparable
The American artist Isamu Noguchi (1904-88) is perhaps best known for his functional sculptures, especially his Akari lamps and Noguchi coffee table, which became icons of modern design. However, as this delightful short illustrates, some of his most ambitious ideas were aimed at shaping communal spaces in the city he loved, even if many of them were never realised.
